This week we had the lovely Syndey come to visit which is always a pleasure. And one of the nights we went to the lantern festival which I had no idea about. It blew my mind I was expecting 50 or so people letting lanterns go in a wannabe tangled moment but instead the entire park was full of these beautiful illuminated sculptures. From pandas to jellyfish to pokemon to sheep I ran around like a kid in a candy shop. It's going on my top five Auckland moments list. So happy year of the dragon I miss you all and if you get a chance go to a lantern festival! ( realizing as I write this that you all probably knew what it was and I'm the idiot thy missed lantern day at school, hahaha oh well the surprise made it so much better)

So as we are nearing the end of another beautiful year, (and jord has the camera) i thought i would write a wee update and put up our year in images, i know ive posted most of them before, but this really is how we have spent the past year.

we have moved 4 times
been to 18 places over 2 continents
spent 13 weeks apart
have had 9 different jobs
changed our plans more times than i care to remember
and have loved (almost:)) every minute of it.

For me when i look back these are the highlights, im sure if Jord was here he would have more and differnt ones, but month by month, this is what i remember and what i loved.

JANUARY- I loved living in Salt Lake, i loved walking to and from work through the city, i loved our beautiful ward and bishop. i loved the friends we made there, and the temple lights!

FEBRUARY- I loved how happy the snow made jordan, the amount of work he was able to get because of the snow. I loved working at blockbuster :) and watching movies and talking about movies ALL the time. i loved being with Family.

MARCH- I loved the warmer weather! it felt like spring, i loved exploring Salt Lake, finding cool new places and feeling like a tourist most days, i loved the scones and Jam at Ruths, and the blue plate diner, i loved the seattle girls trip! getting to spend time with all of the inspiring women i get to call sister-in-laws.

APRIL- i loved HAWAII! i loved watching two of my dearest friends graduate from school and re-uniting with so many more. i loved showing and sharing it with Jordan, BYUH changed my life and it was amazing to share it with jord, it was a place of joy and healing.

MAY- we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary. its funny, some days it feels like i dont know where the time has gone, and others i cant believe its only been 2 years.... but most of all i love that somehow, even from the opposite sides of the world, jord and I found each other.

JUNE - i loved Houston! I loved the girls, and the pool and AC! I loved watching jord play baseball, I loved teaching swimming, i loved planning our future, and watching copious amounts of tv. but most of all i loved the SUN!

JULY- i still loved Houston, it did get a wee bit hot, ill admit, but hey it was a welcome change from snow, i loved being able to visit Virginia, and spend time with the Harts, i really do love ALL of our Family, its big and messy and beautiful and i love it

AUGUST- I moved back to NZ, this was very bittersweet, I loved coming home, but i missed Jordan, i loved seeing and really spending time with my family, it had been years and i didnt really know how much i missed them till i got here. they define me and i love them.

SEPTEMBER- I missed jordan some more.... but worked and worked and worked, i love my job and i love watching movies, i love learning something new. i worked on getting my Art School folio together and submitted. i loved reconnecting with old friends and i learnt to love skype!

OCTOBER- i loved having Jordan arrive! i loved showing him all of the fun places and things i had already fallen in love with, i loved being with my best friend.

NOVEMBER- i still loved working, jordan loved skating, i loved coming home to have had jordan clean the house and do the dishes and laundry! i loved learning to cook with him in out perfect tiny old house!

DECEMBER- i love the sun, i have loved again, fully applying myself to life again, to be working, and progressing, and again, sad to be without Jordan... im not sure why we thought it was a good idea, but we will figure it out. i loved having a summer christmas! eating breakfast outside and going fro a christmas afternoon walk! :)

I feel so blessed for so many things, and forgive me for going on and on, but i am really trying to remember all of the beautiful things we have been given. it has also been quite a hard year, we have worked through a lot, but I am excited for all that next year has to bring.

I hope it is full of all the best things for you all.

So Ive been waiting to post this, mainly i think i was waiting until it felt real or certain, but its been almost a month and still i don't really believe it, so here goes, I got into the Elam School of Fine Arts. Elam is The University of Aucklands Arts program which Im learning is actually really hard to get into, I'm still not really sure how i did. i know it has A LOT to do with my Family. so here is a much needed Thank you to them. my brother Ashley's fiancee Natalie spent countless hours discussing my dreams and aspirations with me, turning the abstract thoughts into plans, and eventually a portfolio that I fully believe wouldn't have been turned in at all had it not been for her help and support. And also Scott and Geraldine, for again discussing what must be done in order to face the scary possibility of failure at the one thing I want more than anything. and to Jord, for graciously agreeing to move half way across the world to support me in this pursuit. I feel incredibly blessed, and am ready for the challenges that the next four years will I'm sure bring.This is Natalie and I after they took us out to a celebratory Dinner, and my beautiful Flowers!!unfortunately even though Nat warned us and carefully explained how to remove the yellow bits from the inside of the lilies, we forgot and now have lots of yellow spots on our floor..... but they were so Pretty :)

Summer lovin

so its summer and we are loving it!! this is on a stroll along the beach, with Mt Ruapehu in the background (its a giant volcano)we have been trying to take lots of walks in the pretty weather, this one took us up into one of the old battle stations, they had built all these amazing tunnels which you can still explore.Jord has been doing ALOT of skating, and is getting much better, these are just two of many skating pics, i think i just like the colours :)Sammy Dubs came to visit which was awesome, almost as awesome as his movember moustache.Baby Brother Bry came to stay too this month, cant believe how grown up he is!! was fun to take hima round Auckland a bit, we took a ferry in then explored the Art Gallery, (which I LOVE!)We also finally made it to Hamilton to the Temple this week. I am grateful to be married to a man who loves the temple and is willing to get up at 6.00 am and drive 2 hours to get there and back for work. was a beautiful day.the coolest park benches in the world! gotta love it when you ask an artist to make some seats....:)And no post would really be complete without a little love to the rails, those of you who know jord understand his absolute love of rails, he was very excited about this one and we are working out the logistics of snow to a sub-tropical climate.Okay we love you!! hope you are having a Happy Day.

Okay so we finally got the camera/computer combo sorted!! here is alittle of everything!my first Baseball Game! In washington with The Harts, much much fun!I even got a foam finger!! happy day!!JOrd has been doing A LOT of skating.....J with the Ellis Cup (Rugby World Cup) NZ hosted the games this year, was so much fun to really get back into rugby.watching the final which we *just* won!! WE also said goddbye to my oldest brother Scott and his family who left for Qatar and a world of Adventure! on Monday, we miss them already! :)The Berkeley Cinema!! and one of my little projects at the moment. and our house!! sorry the photos are crap, but we are just happy to be all moved in and somewhat settled.... we even put the suitcases in the garage!! Hello,
well its been a very busy couple of months down here, and we have had a few changes to our plans *(surprise surprise)* but ill get to that,

I have been madly trying to get my application for scholl all orgainised and sent in, i finally dropped it off this Thursday was such a relief, im happy its done and now we just wait and see! but i thought id put up a bit of what ive been working on... and yeah i know it doesnt make alot of sence without explanation...

but two changes to the plan, we got our interview time for my US visa! which is great! but they moved it to Utah, which is not ideal but it means i get to come back for a couple of days! yay, and hopefully that will all go well and we wont have to look at it again for another 8 years!

and the other change is our friends the Parker's arnt coming down anymore so im just spending all of my non work time looking for somewhere for jord and I to live,,,, ahhhh life.

but thats it really! hope all is well with everyone!! i wouldn't know though cos you all suck at your blogs!! :) hahaha love you! but im not joking, i need pictures and updates cos i miss you all!!

Hello!

So I cannot believe i have been back in NZ for 3 weeks, its crazy how quickly the time has gone. the days have kind of been running into each other, I arrived early on Sunday morning to my brother Ashley and his lovely fiancee Natalie, who had braved the winter cold to pick me up at 5am, they were there in scarves, pajamas and with a GIANT sign..... they wrapped me up and I started work the next morning!

I am working with my brother which really is one of my favourite things in the world to do.I'm learning a lot, writing and implementing new training programs, and just got the go ahead to do some re-decorating at one of the Sites, so I'm busy busy which is good, cos new city without jord, not my favourite.

Ive been spending the weekends with my brother Scott and his family, as they upon hearing we were moving back, decided to move to the middle east!, i told them they could have just told us they didn't want to live in the same city, but apparently the desert is more appealing than Sunday dinners and games with jord and I... :)
They leave Qatar in November so I am soaking up all the time I can with the girls. Madeline is 7 and as wonderful as ever, devouring books faster than they can find them, and she is very excited about the move. Helena is getting so big!! and is the perfect two year old, pulling out everything, wearing nothing but Blue shoes and has a serious love of cake.

Scott's new job is very exciting, the best part is the visiting benefits kick in around May, so you know where Jord and I will be for our anniversary!!

so between work, visiting, preparing two sets of travel Visa's, Art School Application, University applications, i got sick... winter is so not my season. trying to now do as much as i can in front of the fire.

I have just realized that this is very much a journal entry, sorry. but I guess that's why we decided to keep up with the blog, so that we can look back over what we've done and be able to see the lords hand in it all. there's a poem that comes to mind,

"There are a thousand lives you can call by any name you want, but only one you can call your own."

I know that our life is not always logical or easy to keep track of but I know it's ours and I wouldn't have it any other way.

well its storming here in DC, so i thought id upload some of the bits and pieces weve been up to! we came out this week to spend some time with the beautiful Hart Family, it has been much fun, ive been kinda terrible with photos this trip as our new camera is not as good as our old one...(as jord announces after every shot) but we got a couple of good ones.

(running between the museums! so stinking HOT!... note to self, dc in a heat wave is no good.

i also went to see Wicked! we found one single ticket for super cheap so i went and cried and clapped and laughed with a bunch of strangers!! was wonderful. jord was very sweet and waited for me outside!! then we checked out the monuments.

we still have a couple of days before we head back to Houston for about 5 mins, then off again off again to utah, the summer is slipping away!!

Auckland here we come! news of the day, I have been offered an opportunity to work in Auckland NZ, after much back and forth we have decided to take it! I will be heading down under early next month as i have to start ASAP. Jordan is going to stick around for a while to go to Tanner's game and enjoy some of the lingering summer. If all goes according to plan we will both be down early October. We are very excited and grateful for this next adventure and expect you all to come visit!

Hello! well its been a while, we have got a camera and thought we should update on the happs of houston, its hot and just getting hotter, but we are loving it.

This year we are living right off Hermann Park which is huge and super pretty, this is me and Amberlie Mott today in the japanese garden.

1 of the many reasons ilove costco is they sent us a coupon for 100 free prints, so i decided to do something fun that ive been thinking about for a while, I wanted to make a vision board for jord and i, but thought a dream door would be a bit different and actually turned out better than i thought.

house of blues has tribute bands on friday nights... $2 for Guns4Roses and Fan Halen... November Raintastic!

and other bits and pieces... putting my upholstery class to good work, found this ottoman for 10bucks and re-finished it.playing with our mirror...(the days alone do get long sometimes and there is only so much wall space to play with. :)) my find of the century and ohhh im trying out bangs?? still not sure but we shall see

anyway thats kinda life according to us at the moment, i do have some pics of jord that ill pop up later but for now, we love and miss you all lots. xoxo

we have been in houston about a month now and it has been great, jordan is selling and hasnt melted yet... i am working in the office and am now resident swim teacher?? but one of our favourite things about texas is the mexican food, particularly the deliciousness from Chuy's. this was girls night last month...happy times. and perfect burritos.

this week has been crazy but i wanted to take a second and acknowledge the milestone jord and i hit this Monday. 2 full years of marriage, i know it may not seem like a lot to those who are hitting 1o or 11 but i have to say it feels like forever!!
i was looking through our photos from Monday to post something, but it was such a chill day and the photos were not that exciting, so i found this instead... this is the international sign for victory, and today and all week ive felt like screaming VICTORY!!! somehow just making it here, i feel like we have won. I know that life is a roller coaster and that just when things seem to be coming together they dont anymore, but right now im enjoying the view. bring on 3!

this month i surprised jordan with a trip to hawaii, well i tried to surprise him, it lasted about 2 weeks before i blurted it out, but hey, we went mainly for anita and katie's graduation, two of my favourite girls in the world. ahhh so good.

the other two ladies happen to also be my favourite! :) Leana who just returned from her mission in Carmel, Indianapolis. And the beautiful Rachael who i met my second day at BYUH. (there are 2 who couldn't make it, for good reason though, Chelsea is currently serving in Brasil and April just came home from her mission to marry her best friend in July)

we did take the opportunity to catch up on some serious sun time, enough to turn us both a lovely shade of pink!

Jord and I had a day off together yesterday for the first time in months, we had planned to go snowboarding but with jords leg still all sore, we decided to take a drive up to the "This is the place" monument as we have been living in SL a while now and never been. such a beautiful day! i love spring! we then carried on up emigration canyon and stopped at Ruth's for buiscuits and Jam.... great day.

this week i had an amazing experience, I got to go to the temple with two of my favourite people in the world. Cha, Luke and I grew up together in Christchurch, New Zealand, we attended early morning seminary together, cha and I recieved our patriarchal blessings together and we all graduated the same year. It was so great to see how strong they are in the gospel and in themselves. truly joyful day.

As i have been helping lynnett with the basement i came across all of these old photos of jord... these had to be shared because they totally sum up why i fell in love with him.

1. because he knows the power of a good suspender- hightop match.
2. because he is quite possibly the (tone deaf) missing van trapp child
3. because he gets that cake is always the right answer
4. and because he truly understands the concept of "if a jobs worth doing... its worth doing well" (even if that means fully commiting to being a super trooper).

So i know i am constantly complaining about the Winter, (which upsets Jordan greatly) but i just wanted to say that there is actually nothing I love more than going to bed on a normal night and waking up in this magical wonderland of white. it makes me feel like i have stepped through the wardrobe into Narnia.... I just kinda wish it would melt by the afternoon that's all. :)

Other things that have been going on... i finally took down our Christmas tree and decorations, i figured seeing as we didn't manage to get them up till just before Christmas we should enjoy them through January....and apparently February.... ohh well. But I discovered that ive never tried to put a not so real tree back into its box. (im used to chopping one down from the back section and throwing it over the hedge when were done) its REALLY hard...

I managed to do all kinds of damage to the box but hey its all in there....kinda, any magical tips for this process??

yeah sorry, i wish our life was more interesting, but for now, its snow and christmas trees.

This month has flown by... it's been very very full.
i have been working at blockbuster which is kinda great, i get to talk about and watch movies all day, plus we are saving much on rentals...anyway, i was helping this girl find movies with grumpy old men in them and she came back in the next day with two tickets to the opera she was starring in! Karma Baby!! so Jord and I got all dressed up and went to Hansel and Gretel.

The month has also been full of snow much to Jordans delight and my dismay, i keep hoping that somehow winter will disappear... the snow does bring great kiwis to town, hi nick!!

so new years eve i dragged jord outside to watch the fireworks.. i learnt my lesson it felt like being stabbed with a thousand knives!!! why do we live here honestly so so so cold!
jords face froze in this ridiculous smile, and mine, well not as pretty so here are my snow covered boots. ohhh these boots. i seem to grab them every time its cold but they are terrible they slip everywhere and seem to get wet by just seeing snow...no good but memories right???
hahaha HAPPY NEW YEAR may it be filled with joyful days and dry socks!

Merry Christmas everyone!! heres a couple of pictures from the month, we had the Stones come and stay for a night which was awesome. They went out and looked at the lights, there really is something about christmas lights, especially on mass that makes me really happy!

Our First Christmas tree! this is offically the first year jord and I have had our own tree, i got very excited and made most of the decorations but hand, then lynnett came and i think felt sorry for our little tree so donated some real lights and pretty purple delights!

We had a day lay over in LA which was so great, we got to spend some time with Barrie and Aunt Ruthie. I loved it, the weather was kinda grey but it was so nice to be out of the plane!

New Zealand - part three the road trip!

When Jord and I were looking for flights back to Auckland the prices were ridiculous, we had forgotten about school holidays, not so well planned, but luckily on one of my seemingly pointless internet hours i found that jucy rentals was doing free relocations of Campas from Queenstown to Auckland! so we decided to take a week and see some of the country... heres alittle bit of the madness, frustration love and brilliance of the trip.

We started in Queenstown (obviously) and drove through Wanaka and Hawea. on our way to the west coast. the west coast, is notoriously wet and i have actually never before seen it clear. so this is historic!

Okay I dont know what it is, if its just that things are more familiar or if they do just taste better, but this is me stuffing my face (again) with a pie. jordan was kind enough to catch me numerous times in this same postion.

SUN! the last few weeks have been amazing! my poor white arms have seen some light, and ive fallen in love with Utah,
Jordan left down to NZ at the beginning of August so I attached myself to these four... and have been playing in the sun.

The lake jord and I passed on our way up to park city that i really didnt think ever thawed.... i think its Deer River Reserve? could be very wrong, but had a wonderful afternoon chilling here.

We are really sorry for the complete lack of updates, i could give you a million reasons but they all add up to life. We have been back in the US for almost 2 months now and they have been very full. Here are a few images of the craziness.

well to say the least we were all very spoilt. It was lovely to have Angel there for the first christmas in a really long time, the girls were fun to watch get all excited but it was hard to match my excitment at new jammies, and a GPS so i will stop getting lost,, amoung alot of other really great gifts

So the holidays were great, we are now settling back into real life up in Salt Lake with Murray, which is good. I got a job at Park City in one of their restaurants which is challenging my snowboarding skills but im working on it. Jordan's hair has been cut, but hes grieving well.

At Menjangan everything is served with lime, and i really do mean everything

My brother Ashley who has been living at and running the Resort for the past 9 months.
we are just chilling here at the top of the Bali Tower, ransomly the tallect building in Bali, see according to Balinese law the buildings can be no taller than the tallest coconut tree in the area, which is about 2-3 stories, but the Bali tower got special permission and is 5 stories high.

so as time escapes us we have been trying to do everything we had planned for this season in one week.

exibit A. Milford sound, one of the most beautiful places i have ever been, so figured i should show Jordan, it is a 6 hour bus trip from where we live, not so fun.
long story short, it was a nasty day so couldn't see anything, just lots and lots of water.

Jordan still seemed to enjoy it.

even the waterfalls, then in true Jord style he decided that all of his wet clothes needed to come off. enough said.

So last Friday night we went Disco Ice Stating for Dini's Birthaday. It was a great time there was some super good food. Dini's husband Rick owns the Ice Skating Rink so we had the place all to ourselves. It was really fun to dance even on the ice to YMCA and other Disco classics. I actually really like the suit and might start wearing it more often. We need to take more photos of everything. Like tonight was our 5 month anniversary and we didn't take photos. Life is good other than me chipping a bone in my left foot. So I have been watching movies, CSI Las Vegas, and Criminal Intent. Me and Sasha also got into The Mentalist and finish that on DVD in less than 2 weeks. We love Crime shows. I would never want to do the real thing but I could act in one. We are going to Bali in November for 2 weeks and then back to the States for the Season right before Thanksgiving. So excited to see you all. We do love checking all of your blogs. So we we built the 95 footer at Remarks for a photoshoot. Saturday (yesterday) was an amazing weather day. So the shoot was on with the jump getting chizzeled out with here in the photo with the boys tranny shoveling. Long story short, one person hit it and I was on my way up the mountain on snowmobile after waxing my board when Heath got smoked on the knuckle of the jump. He did do a few tricks succesfully. No one else wanted to jump hit once they saw how big it was. Hopefully it's still up when I get back from Mt. Hutt. (another Mountain we are going to for 4 days to do an episode of Diaries Down Under.) I don't know if it will be with the mountain worried about safety issues. (they rope it off during the day but they don't want anything to happen.)

Day of Semi-Finals at the New Zealand Open at Cardrona

So a lot of stuff has been going on lately and we needed to finally update the blog. With the weather being bad all week, we have sometime to get some things done. The last 3 days the mountain has been shut. It's not bad timing with my shoulder being a little sore from getting the Winter Games ready at Remarkables. If you want to check out more snowboard stuff just check my snowboard blog -- jrehrer.blogspot.com Sasha has been working like 50 hours a week and snowboarding has been full on, with Terrain Park work adding to chaos. Things should calm down with only 2 smaller slopestyles left at Remarks and no big events left. They just added another person to work at the Black Sheep where Sasha works so we will have more time to take photos and hang out.

This is me and Nick at the top of the course. It was also
Nick's birthday. We ended up going to Semi-Finals and
not making it through. We watched the Finals and it
turned into some video games stuff and snowboarding
stepped up 2 notches. It was super fun to be apart of.

That night we went out to Japanese Restuarant for Nick's
birthday. Him blowing out the candles.

The weekend before the open we had the Parklife Invitational and it was a lot of work. 3 full days of hard work of setting up and tearing it down only after having a 2 hour session on it. Needless to say it was super fun and the ledge, the flat down bar, and the doulbe barrel were set up really good. There were about 12,000 people who showed up.

Sasha and her friend Jessy went out to Cardrona for a day and took photos on a gorgeous day. They stopped on the way back at the top of the Crown Range and the Cadrona Hotel.

I started work at 7 in the morning and ended at 12 at
night. (I also started the next day at 6) I rode in it as well
and had a blast. I am seen here salting the landing so the
snow stays there and doesn't melt.

Sasha and I went out to dinner to Flame for free since Ben Wah hooked it up with a Gift Certificate. It was super fun and delicious. Sasha doesn't want to eat meat as of late except ribs. As you can see she was going hard that night. I would have liked more dipping sauce though and it was different being South African style sauce and food. I enjoyed the whole meal with some dessert as well. Maybe we'll check them on next time because as of now the photos only go to the top and I can't get them down here. So I hope you enjoy this post. Man I can't believe how long this takes. It takes a lot effort to do these things. You wifes are amazing. So leave a little love so I don't feel like I'm typing to ourselves.

As one of our wedding presents we got these amazing date boxes, each box held an activity and tickets and vouchers to do specific things, wehave only done one so far but it was alot of fun.

We went across to Wanaka to a place called "Have a Shot" where you get to shoot arrows, and guns and clay pigions and stuff. Anyway it turns out that Jordan is a sneaky cheat. But I got him back in the rifle shooting in which he was sufficiently slaughtered to make up for the sneaky cheating in mini golf. All in all it was a really fun day and we have agreed that it was indeed a tie. (due to my shockingly bad archery skills)

As part of my new job I sell activities for around Queenstown, so alot of the companies allow you to try them for free, yesterday Jord and I went on our first "famill". It was with Rippled Earth. We kayaked around the lake and too this island of conservation, it was beautiful. Its a hard-knock life really.

So michaela and I deceided that we needed a painting space, so hence THE SHED.... started as a happy idea on the trip back to christchurch bt has quickly become a rather wonderful and very real project.... all of the things lying here outside the shed were in fact inside when we started, so we cleared and waterblasted and are now painting the most perfect creative space ever dreamed off... except for the toxic mold, bugs that dont leave and the one, nonfunctional window. Its perfect!! i will update with more progress as it unfolds..
